Kainamui factory is a washing station that works with approximately 1800 smallholders operating on the slopes of Mount Kenya in the Kirinyaga region, where many great Kenyan coffees are grown. Each farmer only has around 200 coffee trees on average, growing their coffee alongside bananas, macadamias, maize, tea and eucalyptus.
The coffee is first pulped, graded and after that fermented for 18-24 hours. Then washed and graded again to separate the higher quality. The beans are then soaked for 24 hours and dried on raised African beds for 7 to 15 days.
