Colombia Funky Fruity Phoenix Natural Espresso
When the Palocabildo farmers produced their first natural coffee last year we scooped it up. We brought it to Amsterdam and we were happy. The combined efforts of 8 farms and 45 producers goes into this coffee, and to put it lightly that’s a lot of skill and knowledge.
The clue is in the name with the Funky Fruity Phoenix, high flavour intensity and notes of stewed strawberries this Caturra makes for a beautifully jammy cup.
At 1500-1700 masl the region of Tolima is one of the largest coffee producing regions in Colombia; the difference with the Palocabildo project is that these farmers are also being given the tools and education to learn not just new techniques, but also to bridge the gap between the farm and sourcing within varietal markets.
